Privacy Policy
Macro-Fit · Effective June 15th, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Carter Scott ("we," "us," "our")
handles information in the Macro-Fit mobile app (the "App"). We built Macro-Fit to be privacy-respecting: we do not
use any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking software, and we do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely
hashed password (or, if you choose Sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile information those providers send
us, such as your name and email). You may also set a display name.
- Food and nutrition data you enter. The foods, meals, portions, and goals you log, including any
custom foods or saved meals you create and notes you add. This is the core data that powers the App's tracking,
history, and trends.
- Camera and scan images. If you use barcode scanning, nutrition-label scanning, or recipe scanning,
the App uses your camera or a selected photo on your device only. These scan images are processed
locally to read text or barcodes; scan images are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
- Photos you attach to your library. If you add a photo to one of your Saved Items or Saved Meals,
that photo is uploaded and stored privately in your account (in our hosting provider's storage) so it
can appear on your devices. These photos are visible only to you and are removed when you delete the photo or the
item or meal.
- Microphone and voice. If you use Voice Add, the App uses your microphone and your device's built-in
speech recognition to turn what you say into text. Speech is processed on your device; your audio is not sent
to or stored on our servers. Only the resulting text is used to find a matching food to log.
- Subscription status. If you purchase a subscription, our payment partner tells us whether your
subscription is active. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
2. How your searches and scans are used
When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the App sends the search text or barcode number to third-party food
databases — USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts — to retrieve nutrition
information. These requests are for looking up food data and do not include your account identity.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the App's core features — logging, history, trends, saved meals, and goals.
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To process and validate your subscription, if you purchase one.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your
personal information to anyone.
4. Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of trusted providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting for your account and logs (hosted in the United States).
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts — food and nutrition lookups.
- Apple and Google — optional Sign in with Apple / Google, and subscription billing through the App Store and Google Play.
- RevenueCat — to validate and manage subscription status (used only if you subscribe).
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and food-log history to provide the App's history and trends features; older detailed entries
may be condensed into summaries over time. You can delete your account at any time from within the App
(Profile → Delete Account), which removes your account and associated personal data from our systems. You may also
contact us to request deletion.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information,
and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the App, or by
contacting us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls — to protect your
information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit
access to it.
8. Children's privacy
Macro-Fit is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will
delete it.
9. International users
We operate the App and store data in the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, you
understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Effective" date above and, for material changes,
provide notice in the App.
